Every life story is filled with all kinds of moments--those of success and laughter and those of failure and grief. In those moments when you are hurt, angry, lonely, scared or overwhelmed, it can be hard to know where to turn for direction. My passion in life is helping people to find the direction and the support they need to move forward in those difficult times.
I help my clients, which includes adults, children and families, to become aware of their inner strengths, and then, use those strengths to bring change to their current situation. Every person’s story is unique, so I use a mixture of skills and personal qualities to adapt to the needs of each situation. I use a variety of counseling techniques including Cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, brief solution focused therapy, Multi-systemic therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
My educational background includes a BA from Purdue University in Individual and Family development and a MA in Clinical Counseling from Columbia International University. I have worked as an Multisystemic (MST) therapist for HIV+ teenagers, a School Based Mental Health counselor and as a Military and Family Life counselor.
Before choosing to live in Camden, South Carolina, I have lived in several states on the eastern US and overseas for 3 years. I always thought I would be a city girl but now live very happily in the country with my wonderful husband, 4 dogs, bees, and my stepsons and daughter-in-law when they are able to visit. I dream of someday owning goats and a llama.
